If you’re seeking the perfect holiday cottage in Cornwall then this is exactly what you’re looking for. Our cottage is part of the original 1870s Coastguard Station, overlooking both the harbour at Mevagissey and sea views out into the English Channel beyond Chapel Point.
Dating back around 150 years the Coastguard Station occupies a commanding position just a few minutes walk from the harbour of this traditional Cornish coastal village which has an active fishing community of 70 fishing vessels.
Coastguards View was originally 2 adjoining terraced cottages which were knocked through into one larger property in the 1960s to accommodate the larger family of one of the coastguards and now, newly renovated in 2019, the cottage is available for holiday rentals for groups of up to 8 people.
With sea views from all the front windows and high speed wireless broadband included for guest use the property comprises:
Lounge / Kitchen / Diner
The entire ground floor is open plan offering a large modern kitchen, adjoining dining area to seat up to 8 people and then lounge area with large flat screen TV and log burning stove. Beyond this is an additional seating area incorporating the original 1870 kitchen stove (purely decorative and not in working order) plus a downstairs cloakroom.
The front door opens into a small utility area which houses both a washing machine and tumble dryer.
All bedrooms have electric wall heaters to keep the property warm throughout
Bedroom 1
Large bedroom with kingsize bed, drawer unit and fantastic views over harbour and out to sea.
Bedroom 2
Another large double bedroom with double bed, wardrobe, drawer unit and the same great views over harbour and out to Chapel Point.
Bedroom 3
Large bedroom offering twin single beds, drawers and shelving space and view over the large garden at the rear of the property
Bedroom 4
Compact bedroom offering double bed (will be changing to a bunk bed in 2021), drawer unit, hanging space with shelving
Family Bathroom
Good sized bathroom with electric shower and large shower tray – perfect for invigorating shower after hard day on the beach.
Courtyard and Upper Garden Area
Immediately outside is the rear courtyard – a whitewashed sun-trap which, during the summer months, gets the sun literarily from first thing in the morning right until the sun sets over the western side of Mevagissey in the late evening.
South facing upper garden with split level patio to take advantage of the stunning easterly sea views. This is the ideal area to sit and enjoy the all day long “Cornish sunshine”, sea views and just relax. This upper garden is fairly steep, overlooking the courtyard below and is used entirely at visitors own risk.
N.B. The steps up to the upper garden are steep and children must be supervised at all times – the upper garden is available for visitors use but used entirely at visitors own risk.
Coastguards View is available to rent all year round so please contact us should you want further details or you’re interested in making a booking for your stay in Mevagissey.
