Places to Eat in Mevagissey
There are many places to eat within the village – starting at the harbour and working outwards, and in no particular order – Sharksfin Restaurant, Harbour Tavern Pub, Wheelhouse Pub/Cafe, Alvorada Portugese Restaurant, She Sells Cafe, Tea on the Quay cafe, The Fountain Pub, Cellar Bar, The Ship Inn Pub, No5 Restaurant, Salamander Restaurant, The Kings Arms Pub, Mevagissey Spice Indian Restaurant to name some and numerous other options available as well.

Shops, Crafts and Galleries in Mevagissey
Many independent shops selling locally produced craft items, galleries with local paintings and photography and, as mentioned above, various cafes set around little cobbled streets.

Coastal Path
Depending on how far you want to go, and being fairly steep and challenging in places, this section of the coastal path takes you either eastwards towards Pentewan (maybe a couple of hours walk there and back) and then further on towards Porthpean, Duporth and Charlestown beyond or if you head westwards instead then the path takes you through Portmellon and on to Gorran Haven (several hours each way)

The Lost Gardens of Heligan
Less than 10 minutes drive from Mevagissey, over 200 acres of woodland, gardens and estate to explore and discover – open all year round.

Eden Project
Established in 2001 the Eden Project incorporates the largest indoor rainforest in the world and well worth a visit. The Eden Project also hosts the longest and fastest zip wire in England – fly 660m right over the top of the Eden Domes at speeds of up to 60mph..!!

Charlestown
Historic Cornish port dating back to around 1790 when construction began to build the harbour which was used extensively for the export of copper ore from local mines. Also used in many TV period dramas including Poldark from the BBC – walk around many of the recognisable harbour sights from the TV show – car parking available

St Austell
Nearest town to Mevagissey approx 10 mins drive with shopping centre and multi-storey carpark with all usual High Street stores available

WITHIN AN HOUR OR SO DRIVE

Fowey & Polruan – Popular coastal villages sitting either side of the Fowey estuary with many shops, restaurants and pubs – there is a daytime water taxi service across the estuary between the villages.

During the summer season, and subject to weather conditions, there is a foot passenger ferry service running between Mevagissey and Fowey – about 30-40 mins each way, it’s a great way to visit Fowey without the hassle of having to drive there and the struggle for a parking space…

Polperro & Looe – Both popular Cornish fishing villages. Looe, the larger of the 2 villages, sits at the mouth of the River Looe, with good selection of Cornish pubs, cafes and restaurants and then about 10 mins drive from Looe is the much smaller village of Polperro with it’s small harbour, traditional Cornish pubs and tiny little streets.

Truro & Falmouth – About 30 mins drive from Mevagissey the city of Truro dates back to Norman Times and is regarded as the capital of Cornwall. Plenty of shopping facilities to enjoy as well taking in the historical cathedral and year round events taking place at Lemon Quay.

Another 30 mins drive takes you to Falmouth which is the largest port in Cornwall with the deepest natural harbour in Europe. A very popular holiday and sailing destination the town has a large range of shopping, entertainment and eating experiences available.
